What’s your idea of a great night out?
It probably includes great food, unforgettable performances, brilliant bars, and friends you love spending time with; or new friends you haven’t yet met.
Rainbow Precinct has all of that and more. And because a truly great night out means feeling safe, welcome and supported, your safety and wellbeing are always front of mind - so you can focus on having a good time and getting home in great shape.
❋ PRIDE HI VIS VESTSTrained security staff wearing clearly identifiable hi-vis Pride vests operate throughout Rainbow Precinct during peak times. They’re there to provide assistance, de-escalate situations, and help everyone feel comfortable moving through the precinct. If you need support, directions, or just a moment to regroup, help is never far away.
❋ ASK FOR ANGELAMany venues across Rainbow Precinct participate in the Ask for Angela initiative. If you feel unsafe, uncomfortable, or need help getting out of a situation, simply ask venue staff for “Angela”. Staff are trained to respond discreetly and provide immediate support; whether that’s a safe space, assistance leaving the venue, or contacting help if needed.
❋ THE GLLO PROGRAMThe Gay & Lesbian Liaison Officer (GLLO) program ensures police working in and around Rainbow Precinct are trained to engage respectfully and knowledgeably with LGBTIQA+ communities. Their presence helps build trust, provide support when it’s needed, and ensure incidents are handled with sensitivity and understanding.
❋ OXFORD ST PRIDE CHARTERVenues and organisations across Rainbow Precinct are proud signatories of the Oxford Street Pride Charter - a shared commitment to inclusion, respect, safety and zero tolerance for discrimination or harassment. It helps ensure Oxford Street remains a place where everyone can celebrate freely and feel welcome.
